Live and Test tracking modes
Every funnel tracks in one of two modes. Test keeps your own clicks and preview runs out of your real numbers while you check the funnel; Live records real visitor activity. Test and live analytics are separate datasets — nothing recorded in one shows up in the other.
Switch the mode
- Open your funnel and click Settings.
- Under General Settings, find Tracking mode.
- Choose Live or Test:
- Live — "Track real visitor activity in your live analytics."
- Test — "Keep test activity separate while you preview and check your funnel before going live."
The status dot next to the funnel's name in the header reflects the mode: green for Live, orange for Test.
When to use Test
Use Test while you're building: run through the funnel yourself, submit the form, check the report. All of that activity lands in the test dataset, so your real analytics start clean.
Switch to Live before sharing
Before you send the funnel's link to anyone, set it to Live. Visits to a funnel in Test mode are recorded as test data — real visitors would be tracked into the wrong dataset.
FAQ
Why does my Analytics tab show a "Test Tracking Mode" banner?
The funnel is in Test mode, so you're viewing test stats. The banner links straight to the setting to switch it to Live.
I shared my funnel but see no stats — where are they?
Check the tracking mode. If the funnel was still in Test, that activity is in the test dataset. Switch to Live; new visits will record as live data.
Do my test runs disappear when I go Live?
No — they stay in the test dataset. Switch the funnel back to Test any time to view them.
